About Me
Hi! My name is Haruka Endo. I am currently a 12th grader at Harvard-Westlake School In Los Angeles, CA. In this personal website, I will explore my passion for art, academics, and community service.
Ever since I learned how to read and write, I have been dedicated to exploring art. When I was young, whenever I was bored at home I would grab a piece of paper and draw whatever I wanted. Sometimes it was an intrinsic flower I saw outside, other times it would be a cluster of patterns. After I began elementary school I began to learn more about the different types of art. I was exposed to paintings and sculptures, and began exploring a variety of art museums with my friends and family. My art in middle school explored a variety of different themes in the world around me including biology, my family, and global issues of sustainability and climate change. Currently, my art has shifted towards personal topics such as my bi-cultural identity as a Japanese-Korean and other areas that I am fascinated by such as the realm of posthumanism and techno-orientalism. I like breaking out of the conventional art forms such as drawing and painting, and incorporating unique materials throughout my art including lace, computer technology, and wires. Through my art, I aim to portray the person I want to be, breaking away from stereotypes and societal norms to piece together my own personal identity.
Instead of thinking about art as a hobby, I believe it has become a signature part of me. Using it as an outlet for my thoughts and experiences has shaped me in all aspects into the person I am today. I hope that anyone who looks through my website will be able to feel like they are part of the same journey that I am currently on. Thank you!
